Dear Twin Falls Kiwanis Club,

I am reaching out to see if members of the Twin Falls Kiwanis would consider volunteering their time, instead of money, for an upcoming educational event for local students on Thursday, May 14th at I.B. Perrine Elementary School. Our school has been given the opportunity to host Pioneer Trails Day, a traveling “mobile museum” that brings Idaho’s pioneer history to life through hands-on learning. Instead of simply reading about the Oregon Trail, students spend the day experiencing what life was like for pioneers traveling west. Throughout the day, students rotate through interactive stations where they learn and participate in activities such as butter churning, pulling a pioneer handcart, calf roping, and creating simple pioneer crafts like moonspinner toys and native necklaces. These activities connect directly to Idaho’s state history curriculum while also incorporating problem solving and STEM learning. To make this experience possible, the program relies on adult volunteers to help oversee the stations while students complete the activities themselves. Volunteers help guide the stations, encourage students, and help ensure the day runs smoothly. We are hoping Kiwanis members may be interested in helping support this experience for local students. Volunteering is simple—those who are willing to help would only need to let me know of their interest and complete the free background check required by the school district for all volunteers. Kiwanis has long been known for supporting youth and education in our community, and this opportunity would allow students to connect with local community members while participating in a memorable learning experience they will not soon forget. Sometimes the most powerful way to support students is simply by showing up and helping them learn through experience. Thank you for considering this request and for the many ways the Twin Falls Kiwanis Club continues to serve children and families in our community.

Sincerely, Cindy Brown 4th Grade Teacher
